Mobile phones have become a staple of our society, with everyone from elementary school kids to senior citizens owning at least one. Although, mobile apps and texting have made our lives easier, but the impact they’ve had on social values like modesty, communication and the relationship(s) we have with one another is an emerging and an evolving concern.
In this age of mobile phones, every social individual is connected with each other through Social Media and today it is almost a need to be part of social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and so on. But, the newly emerged App called ‘TikTok’ is attracting more youth towards its platform. People, mostly teenagers, in Kashmir valley are getting much influenced and attracted towards this app as they upload and share their videos on it.
Although uploading and sharing our videos is not a crime but the manner in which our youngsters are uploading videos is not only against our morality but is inviting an evil to our society. The reason behind uploading these videos is getting publicity. But, publicity that is inspired by no cause is what is called Foolishness. Teenage is a very sensitive stage of our life; it is a stage where one gets easily influenced and attracted towards wrong directions. This “TikTok” app is not only destroying our young ones but has also brought evil into our society. The ‘TikTok’ addiction is leading to mental and psychological problems that need prior attention.
Our teenagers should think over this menace which will not bring any happiness or change in their lives but will only destroy them internally. Importantly, our young ones should focus on their moral and school studies. They should devote their precious time, energy and money to career building. Parents, teachers and religious leaders have a key role to guide young ones
Moreover, children that are at the stage of getting admitted in schools and those in KG classes are asking for Mobile Phones from their parents and elders. This is more dangerous than it seems. In recent years, there has been a lot of speculation about the impact of cell phone radiation on the children’s’ bodies. A study by The Journal of the American Medical Association stirred the debate when it investigated the repercussion the mobile phones could have on brain activity. The study has shown that children who use mobile phones have a possibility of developing non-malignant tumors in the brain and ear. The WHO has classified cell phone radiation as ‘possibly carcinogenic to humans’. Children absorb more than 60 percent of the radiation into the brain than adults. Their brain’s thinner skin, tissues, and bones allow them to absorb the radiation twice than grown-ups. Their developing nervous system makes them more vulnerable to this ‘carcinogen’. The disturbed brain activity could impair children’s learning abilities and other behavioral problems. It could even affect their mood and ability to learn.
By way of a conclusion, as a parent, you must take preventive measures to minimize your child’s exposure to the harmful effects of mobile phones. Give time to your children, tell them stories using your own tongue and lip. Let them engage with nonelectric games, rhyme books, play cards but not with Mobile Phones!
