SRINAGAR: Chairman Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik on Monday remembered the prominent pro-freedom personality Sajad Ahmad Keenu on his 22nd anniversary, terming him as “one of the pioneers of present struggle for freedom”.
Sajjad Ahmad Kenu, of Anantnag was killed by government forces on 8 January 1996.
“Martyrs like him are our real heroes and their sacrifices will never be forgotten,” Malik said while addressing a memorial meeting held to recall the sacrifices of Sajad Ahmad Keenu.
Terming Sajad as a humble person, dedicated warrior, prolific leader and a luminous human being, Malik in a statement said Keenu was one of the faces of Kashmiri resistance who till his last breath stood upright for the cause of freedom and sacrificed his life while striving for it.
“The sacrifices of heroes like martyr Sajad Ahmad Keenu can never be forgotten and today while we remember his sacrifices and struggle, we pledge to take his mission forward with passion and zeal,” he said.
Meanwhile, JKLF chairman expressed heartfelt grief over the demise of prominent businessman Tariq Ahmad Bhat (Master Arts) who breathed his last few days ago.
Malik along with a party delegation visited the bereaved family at Rajbagh and expressed solidarity with them. He also prayed for heavenly abode of the deceased and forbearance to the bereaved family.
Meanwhile, Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) while paying rich tributes to Sajad Ahmad Keenu said “people are indebted to the sacrifices of martyrs and committed to take their mission forward”.
In a statement, JKDFP spokesperson said, “The sacrifices of our martyrs are enough to awake the conscience of the world leadership but unfortunately the international community doesn’t pressure India much to resolve the Kashmir issue which ultimately boosts the morale of India and its collaborators to continue playing with the lives of innocent people.”
