DC Rajouri inspects govt offices, suspends absentees

SRINAGAR: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad on Monday conducted extensive tour of Rajouri town to review the status of power and water supply besides availability of essential commodities, post heavy rains. Deputy Commissioner received feedback from the public about the facilities being extended by the concerned departments and listened to their grievances in this regard. He directed the officials of PHE, PDD and essential services to gear up their men and machinery to meet any adverse situation arising due to recent rains and snow fall in some areas. The people of the town sought repair of the main lane connecting Bus stand with the town. The Deputy Commissioner directed Municipal Committee to start the repair work and restore make public convenience near tehsil office functional within two days. He also visited offices of various departments to check the presence of the staff at the Headquarter. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner inspected the pumping station near Tariq Bridge where he found all the employees absent from the duty. He sought an explanation from the Executive Engineer PHE Mechanical in this regard. He also inspected the Grid Station Thuddi. Later, the DC paid a surprise visit to PHC Kallar Chattyar and found only one class fourth employee and ambulance driver on duty. The absentee staff was placed under suspension with immediate effect.
