SHOPIAN: Deputy Commissioner Shopian Owais Ahmed along with the team of officers on Thursday made an extensive tour to the snow affected areas of the District and took stock of snow clearance, connectivity, restoration of power and water supply and availability of ration and other essential commodities in these areas.
During the tour, Owais visited Heerpora, Bohrihalan, Padpawan and adjacent villages of the District, where locals apprised the DC with the problems faced by them during the harsh weather conditions.
On the occasion, he directed the officials of Mughal Road Authority to fully gear up the men and machinery to clear the frost on Mughal Road for hassle-free traffic movement. Acting on the complaints regarding blockade of water supply in the area due to frost, DC directed Executive Engineer PHE to restore the water supply in the area immediately.
He stressed the officers should work in close liaison with other departments to overcome the issues faced by public. He also directed for round the clock functioning of the established Control room to ensure all possible help to the public during inclement weather.
The DC also issued weather advisory wherein the people were asked for not to venture into avalanche prone areas during this period and also take all precautions so as to avert any untoward incident. People of the area appreciated the efforts of the district administration for providing adequate facilities to the people during winter season.
