Residents protest power crises in Sopore

BARAMULLA: The residents of Nowpora area of Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district staged a protest on Wednesday against the shortage of electricity in their area.
The reports said a large number of people including women and children from Nowpora area of Sopore staged a protest against the shortage of electricity in the area on Sopore-Nowpora road.
The protesting people said that they are facing hardships due to the non availability of electricity from past several weeks.
They said that as the PDD installed meters in the area a few weeks ago, from the time we are facing lot of problems due to regular power cuts. “Due to shortage of electricity, we not only are living in dark, we cannot even charge our cell phones,” Gulam Hassan, a protester said.
The protesters threatened to block roads if department fails to restore power supply in the area.
Meanwhile, a police team reached on the spot and assured the protesters that their complaint will be forwarded to higher officials for early redressal.
