Baramulla: Voting in the eighth phase of panchayat elections saw 56.86% polling in three blocks of Baramulla district on Saturday.
Official sources said that there were 29,345 registered voters in three blocks of Nadihal, Narvaw and Boniyar in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, of which 16,685 voters including 8,434 males and 8,251 females cast their vote.
They said that there were 2,305 voters in block Nadihal of which 591 voters including 343 males and 248 females cast their vote, the percentage being 25.65.
In block Narvaw, of the 14,840 registered voters, 6,313 including 2,128 males and 3,185 females cast their vote, the percentage being 42.84.
In the third block, Boniyar, there were 12,200 registered voters of which 9,781 including 4,963 males and 4,818 females cast their vote, the percentage being 80.17.
There are 145 Panch wards in the block, among which in 61 winners were declared uncontested, 85 were vacant, and 26 were in the fray.
