SRINAGAR: Slamming the government on slapping PSA on resistance leaders and activists, Chairman Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH), Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai on Thursday termed it “sheer injustice” and “brazen display of invocation of draconian law”.

Condemning the slapping of PSA on Altaf Ahmed Mir, Irshad Magray, Umar Nazir Bhat of Zaloora Sopore and Ishfaq Ahmed Malla, Waqas Ahmed Malla, Muhammad Ashraf Dar of Sopore, Sehrai alleged that such moves have been tested in the past and failed to make the people of Kashmir “surrender before Delhi’s military might and the state government’s policies of coercion and repression”, a TeH spokesperson quoting Sehrai in a statement issued here said.

Sehrai termed these tactics as an “attempt to break the resolve of resistance leadership and people of Kashmir”, the spokesperson said.

Expressing displeasure over the silence maintained by World Red Cross, ICRC and international organisation for human rights, Sehrai said “their negligence towards detainees is disheartening”, alleging that they were not taking any effective step to check “senseless” detention of innocent people demanding their legitimate and promised rights by the same international bodies decades back, he added.
