Urgent need to revive village and small industrial sector: ADC

Anantnag: A seminar was organised by J&K Khadi & Village Industries Board onRural Employment Generation Programme (REGP) scheme here on Thursday.
This event was held at Zonal Office J&K, Bank Bakshiabad Anantnag, the statement said. Additional District Development Commissioner, Anantnag, Reyaz Ahmad Sofi was the chief guest.
He said that village micro industrial sector, production, processing and packaging of Agriculture/ Horticulture products, service sector like transport, healthcare, construction related sector activities and other few sectors which offer the potential for sustainable industrial development and employment generation.
“There is an urgent need to revive the village industries and micro industrial sector,” he added.
The Deputy Secretary, KVIB said that the board has been involved in planning, promoting, developing and organizing micro industrial sector. “The energy and enthusiasm of the youth for establishment of the productive enterprise in micro industrial sector and to create employment opportunities in rural areas,” he stated.
On the occasion, the experts from KVIB, District Industries Centre (DIC) Anantnag, and various Bank branch heads participated in the seminar and explained the participants regarding the various kinds of loans, schemes and programmes for their economic wellbeing.
The participants were given awareness about availing the benefits of REGP scheme and other such centrally sponsored schemes. The experts provided them expertise regarding how to strengthen their REGP units and how to make them sustainable and more profitable.
