SRINAGAR: Teachers working under the centrally-sponsored Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) scheme held a protest demonstration here on Monday demanding the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission benefits.
Teachers from various districts assembled in press enclave under the banner of the Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum (JKRETTF) and raised slogans against the state government for not giving them the benefits of the 7th Pay Commission.
The protesters held placards and banners that read “Delink SSA salary” and “Implement 7th Pay Commission”.
JKRETTF Chairman Farooq Ahmad Tantray said that Advisor to the Governor Khurshid Ganai had announced the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission in September but it had not been implemented till date.
“Our main demand is the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission and delinking of SSA salaries from MHRD to state government budget,” Tantray said.
The protesting teachers threatened to go for a sit-in protest in Jammu secretariat if their demands are not fulfilled by December 10.
