SRINAGAR: Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani on Sunday asserted that no power on earth can deter a people from right to self-determination.
Geelani was addressing mourners of slain militant Adnan Ahmad Lone of Bandna.
In the telephonic address, Geelani said, “No power on earth particularly the Indian might can deter us from our much-cherished goal of right to self-determination,” a statement read.
Geelani, according to the statement said, “Policy of suppression and repression in Jammu and Kashmir has failed to yield anything for India. Through the elongated period of ordeal and barbarism since 1947, India is currently facing a powerful people’s political movement for right to self-determination in every nook and corner of Jammu and Kashmir.”
Referring to the sacrifices rendered by people especially youth to end the “forced occupation”, Geelani said, “More than 6 lakh people have been martyred and an economy worth trillions lost and lakhs injured, but Indian brutality and repression, through their local conduits, seems to have no end.”
Hurriyat chairman further said that India was “suffering from arrogance of power” and had tried its best to muzzle the Kashmiri’s voice but has “utterly failed” to do so.
Reiterating his appeal for boycotting polls, the Hurriyat chairman said that “participation in any sponsored election amounts to treason and betrayal with martyrs’ blood and disgrace for sacrifices rendered by our nation”.
“We believe, any election process, India tries to conduct, is nothing but an armed drill to threaten the common people, but we are indebted to the sacrifices of our nation never to even think of any compromise,” he added.
Hurriyat (G) chairman stressed upon people, in general and youth, in particular, to strengthen the faith and to be optimistic, the statement added.
