Baramulla: National Confrence (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah on Sunday said that he is in not hungry for power and that his party’s support to PDP for government formation was for safeguading the identity of Jammu and Kashmir.
“You should think what is going on with our JK bank,” he said and added, “We gave external support to PDP only to save our people,” the former chief minister said.
Blaming the slain Abdul Gani Lone, father of Sajad Lone for introducting “gun culture” in the Valley, he said the slain Lone later regretted he committed “mistake”.
“I know Sajad Lone blame on me and my party, but I won’t say anything. Otherwise I know when his father told me that he will go Pakistan and will pick up gun, I pleaded before him that don’t introduce gun culture here. I told him it will take lives of our youngsters and honour of our daughters. When he returned back he accepted it was his mistake,” Abdullah told reporters in Baramulla where he had gone to visit bereaved family of advocate Ghulam Mohiudin who passed away last week. According to him, he wanted friendship between India and Pakistan saying “there is no solution without friendship for both countries and it will be good for our state too”.
He said if his party comes to power in the coming assembly elections, he will fight For autonomy and get it at any cost.
