Protests in Pattan against ‘shifting’ of SDH to trauma hospital

Baramulla: The traders federation of Pattan town held protest and observed complete strike in the town market against purported “shifting” of sub-district hospital to as new Truama hospital in the town .
A large number of traders joined the protest and blocked traffic movement on the Srinagar-Muzafarabad highway for hours.
The protestors shouted slogans against the Health department and alleged thay the Block Medical Officer Pattan has “completely shifted” the sub-district hospital (SDH) Pattan to the new trauma hospital at Pattan.
President Traders Federation Pattan Sajad Ahmad Qadri told Kashmir Reader that they want the SDH to work at its original place and trauma hospital to be limited to trauma patients.
They also sought demanded transfer of the BMO Pattan.
BMO Dr Masrat Iqbal Wani, however, told Kashmir Reader that SDH PAttan was working at its own place, and alleged some people were provoking the protests as they “don’t want the trauma hospital to function because they have drug stores at Pattan market”.
“Otherwise SDH Pattan is working at its original place and Trauma hospital at its own place”.
