SRINAGAR: Chairman Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai on Friday reacted sharply to the remarks of Indian army chief Gen Bipin Rawat that they can use drone strikes in Kashmir if people will accept collateral damage.
Sehrai in a statement said, “Indian army chief must realise that he cannot scare a nation that has sacrificed more than a hundred thousand of its men, women, youth, children and properties during the ongoing political resistance movement. If that is what army chief desires, he is welcome to test our resolve even by drones. The general’s doubt would swiftly be removed.”
He said Rawat issued such statement out of frustration as “they are unable to crush (our) mass uprising and struggle for freedom”.
“General Rawat seems to be so ill-informed, which speaks of his limited knowledge. He should know the fact that people of Kashmir are fighting for their right to self-determination since 1947 and India had left no stone unturned to unleash every known kind of atrocity on Kashmiris but achieved nothing other than deceiving their own countrymen about Kashmir,” the pro-freedom leader said.
Sehrai appealed the world community and human rights organisations to take cognisance of Indian army chief’s “hostile”.
