AWANTIPORA: A local court here convicted a man for sodomy on a minor boy and sentenced him to three-year rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 5000.
The court of Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Awantipora Fariqa Nazir sentenced one Javid Ahmad Dar of Aghanjipora Awantipora for subjecting a four-year-old boy to sodomy in December 2010, Prosecuting Officer Khurshid Ahmad said.
The court held that the accused after employing deceitful means had taken the minor boy on a bicycle away from his home and committed gruesome and heinous offence of sodomy upon him.
The verdict is punishable under section 377 RPC.
The court said that if the convict failed to pay the fine, his imprisonment would be extended for one year.

“It has also been observed by the trial court that it is very painful even to imagine what kind of agony or trauma a 3 or 4 year child must have gone through while being subjected to such a brutal act,” Khursheed said.
