J&K: 1367 fined for driving without seat belts

Jammu: In the ongoing special drive against traffic violators, Traffic police fined 1367 drivers who were driving without wearing seat belt across Jammu and Kashmir.
An official handout said that 1318  people were fined for driving two-wheelers without helmet, 700 drivers were fined for overloading and wrong parking and as many as 71 vehicles were found without valid documents and hence fined.
It said that the drive was launched on the directions of IGP Traffic,  Alok Kumar, who reviewed traffic management throughout the state after taking the charge recently.
Apart from this, violators were also fined for other offences in the state.
The IGP Traffic has directed the officers to continue these drives in future also in order to curb the menace of violation of traffic rules, it said.
