Anti-Corruption Bureau books police official on corruption charges

JAMMU: On the basis of enquiry conducted by the Security Headquarter against on accused Abdul Gaffar No.f-22/AP 4th Security PID No.ARP-055730, son of Haji Ab. Latif, resident of Naka Manjhari Mendhar District Poonch on the written complaint lodged by Abdul Majid, son of Alaf Din, resident of Dharana Tehsil Mendhar, District Poonch regarding allegation of demand and acceptance of bribe money to the tune of Rs 1.5 lakh by the accused from the complainant, Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thursday registered a formal case against the accused vide FIR No. 38/2018 u/s 5(1)(d) read with section 5(2) of J&K P.C Act Svt. 2006 at P/S VOJ on 29/11/2018.
“Enquiry conducted reveals that accused while his posting in J&K Armed Police had demanded and accepted an amount of Rs 1.5 lakh from the complainant with the assurance to get his close relatives adjusted in police department,” an official statement read. However, despite paying the bribe amount, neither his close relatives were adjusted nor the amount paid to accused was returned to complainant, the statement read.
After registration of the case, investigations have been taken up.
