Farooq, Omar, Mir, others condole demise

Srinagar: President National Conference Farooq Abdullah and vice president Omar Abdullah have expressed grief over the demise of prominent political activist Advocate Ghulam Mohiuddin Wani (Uri) of Baramulla.

While expressing his grief Farooq Abdullah said that Mir was a close associate of Shiekh Abdullah. “Wani Sahib was known for his political acumen and people friendly politics. I pray to Almighty to give peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family to bear the loss,” he said.

Omar in his condolence message said that Late Wani has played an important role in highlighting issues concerning people in general. “I pray to almighty to give peace to the soul of the departed,” he said.

Party General Secretary, Additional General Secretary, Provincial President and other senior leaders also expressed condolences with the bereaved family.

Meanwhile, former minister and Democratic Party Nationalist president, Ghulam Hassan Mir has condoled the death of senior advocate Ghulam Mohiuddin Wani.

In a statement issued here, Mir described Wani an advocate par excellence.

“He (Wani) had political belief to which he never compromised. Because of his political belief, he had to go jail. He was one of the architects of 1975 Accord and was a close associate of Mirza Afzal Beg,” Mir said.

Mir prayed for the departed soul and solidarity with the bereaved family.
