Anti Corruption Bureau books former ZEO Marwah, others for ‘misappropriation’ of funds

JAMMU: On the basis of a verification conducted into the allegations of “misappropriation of government funds” by way of committing double drawl of funds to the tune of Rs 10.50 lakh pertaining to ‘cooking cost’ and ‘honorarium to cook’, Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Jammu on Wednesday registered a case under FIR No. 37/2018 against the then officers/officials of Education Zone, Marwah, District Kishtwar s by Ghulam Qadir Beig, the then ZEO Marwah and others during the year 2010-11 and 2011-2012.
The verification conducted revealed that during the financial year 2011-12 the then ZEO Marwah, Nazir Ahmed Farash “under a well-knit conspiracy” hatched with his sub-ordinate namely, Fiaz Ahmed, then Incharge Accounts Assistant, issued various cheques amounting to Rs 4.21 lakh in his name from the official account of ZEO Marwah out of the funds meant for mid-day meal scheme with the intention to misappropriate the same, an official statement issued here read.
The verification further revealed that the said amount of Rs 4.21 lakh stands withdrawn by Nazir Ahmed Farash but the same has not been disbursed to the concerned. “By acting in this manner, the then ZEO Marwah Nazir Ahmed Farash, under a well designed conspiracy with Fiaz Ahmed Incharge Accounts Assistant (now expired) by abuse of his official position as public servant issued cheques in the name of Fiaz Ahmed in violation to mid-day meal guidelines and thus misappropriated the government money”, the statement read.
“On the basis of above-mentioned act of omissions and commissions on the part of Nazir Ahmed Farash, S/O Ghulam Muhammad Farash, R/O Khanpura, Baramulla, the then ZEO Marwah and Fiaz Ahmed, S/O Ghulam Ahmed, R/O village Janakpora, Tehsil Marwah, Kishtwar, the then Incharge Accounts Assistant (now expired) constitute offences punishable under section 5(1)(c), 5(1)(d) r/w section 5(2) of J&K PC Act Svt. 2006 and section 120-B RPC. However, no cognizance is taken against Fiaz Ahmed who has already expired”, it read.
Investigation of the case has been taken-up.
