South Kashmir: Two militants, army man killed in Redwani gunfight; 2 CRPF personnel injured

Srinagar: Two militants and an army personnel were killed in a gunfight in Redwani area of southern Kashmir’s Kulgam district  Tuesday morning, while two paramilitary CRPF personnel suffered injuries.

Police sources told Kashmir Reader that two militants were killed in the firefight while an army man who was injured in the initial exchange of gunfight succumbed to injuries. He said that the identification of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained. “The militant duo probably were associated with Lashkar-e-Toiba.”

The gunfight broke out in the wee hours after army’s Rashtriya Rifles, special operations group of Jammu and Kashmir police and paramilitary CRPF launched a joint cordon-and-search operation in Redwani Bala village of Kulgam following inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

Meanwhile, the two CRPF men who were injured have been rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
