BARAMULLA: The newly elected members of Municipal Council (MC) Baramulla were ‘ignored’ by the district administration Baramulla on Monday when an official from the government visited here.
Khursheed Ahmad Ganai, advisor to governor visited Dak Bungalow Baramulla on Monday afternoon and met with different delegations and held several meetings with officials of the administration.
The district administration Baramulla, headed by Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, issued letters to the officials of administration ordering them to be present on the occasion.
The district administration had set programmes of different delegations who met with the advisor, however, the newly members of Municipal Council Baramulla including ward members, president and vice-president were not called by the administration in any of the meetings with the advisor.
Vice-president MC Baramulla, Abid Salam War, told Kashmir Reader that they (council members) were waiting till Monday afternoon but “we neither received any phone call nor any other invitation card from the district administration Baramulla”. They later decided not to go there.
“It was an embarrassment for us,” he said, adding that on one side government says we are the cream of society but on other hand “our administration not only forgot to invite us, they played with our dignity and honour,” Abid alleged.
