JAMMU: District Administration Jammu on Monday celebrated ‘constitution day’ here at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex.
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Ramesh Kumar alongwith additional deputy commissioners and other staff members of deputy commissioner’s office took pledge by reciting preamble underlining the essence of the Indian constitution as “Sovereign, Socialist, Secular Democratic Republic”, an official statement read.
Kumar also chaired a meeting of representatives of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) with regard to donation of relief items to Red Cross Society.
During the meeting, it was informed that HPCL was going to hold series of activities under corporate social responsibility (CSR) to empower weaker, less privileged and marginalised sections of the society to create social capital.
The HPCL informed that it has completed the process of procurement of material and soon various items including wheel chairs, tricycles, crutches and hearing aids will be shifted to the location being designated for storage and onward distribution, the handout read.
Kumar lauded HPCL for its endeavour for the social cause.
