Srinagar: The Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) chairman Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai Sunday paid tributes to slain Shopian militants and said “political struggle of Kashmiris can never be suppressed.”

“They are our heroes and their sacrifices are part of our history,” Sehrai said in a statement issued here.
Slamming world’s silence, Sehrai said: “Despite acknowledging rights violations in Kashmir, the cries of the Kashmiri people and their peaceful struggle for freedom has not been able to garner any decisive movement by international bodies for the resolution of this dispute.”
“New Delhi has time and again, tried to sabotage the Kashmiri cause and struggle for freedom by attempting to link it with militancy and terrorism,” TeH chairman said.
The statement further said that Tehreek-e-Hurriyat chairman addressed slain militant Umar Majid’s mourners in Shopian telephonically and reiterated his pledge to take the ongoing movement to its logical end.
The statement further reads that Sehrai telephonically addressed condolence gathering of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat in Kupwara District. “He enlightened the role of Mir Hafizullah in the freedom struggle and said Hafizullah was valiant freedom fighter who laid his life for the sacred cause despite got repeated life threats,” it said.
Hafizullah was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Achabal area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday.
Sehrai termed his death is a great loss. “The purpose of his killing was to frighten the freedom-loving people and to make them into submission,” he added.
