Anantnag: Government forces claimed to have busted an “underground” hideout of militants of the Islamic State Jammu & Kashmir (ISJK), here in Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A senior police officer told Kashmir Reader that the hideout was located in an orchard in Panzgam area of Awantipora.
“It was an underground hideout,” the officer said, adding that it was busted following specific inputs regarding its presence.
“A joint team of police and 55 RR of the army unearthed the hideout,” he said.
The police officer said that there was no militant presence in the area but the hideout was in regular use.
“Logistics items like bedding, utensils, gas cylinders and stove, and some eatables were retrieved from the hideout,” he said.
The hideout has now been sealed, the officer said.
