Panchayat polls: No polling in Soibug block of central Kashmir’s Budgam district

Budgam: Polling was scheduled in Soibug and Suresyar block of Budgam in the third phase of Panchayat polls on Thursday.

In Soibug block, no elections took place because the candidates have either won unopposed or there were nominations.

Out of 16 Sarpanch wards, eight have won uncontested, while other 8 wards lie vacant.

Similarly, out of 152 total panch constituencies, 26 have filed nominations and have won unopposed, while as 126 seats lie vacant.

However, in Suresyar block, polling is going on at four polling stations located in Jabbat, Brenwar, Nego and Suresyar A for one panch and 4 Sarpanch seats.

Suresyar block has 16 Sarpanch wards, out of which only in 4 wards candidates are in fray,  while as 7 have won unopposed and 5 lie vacant.

Similarly, 56 panchs have won elections unopposed, one is in fray and rest lie vacant. Total wards are 156.
