TRAL: Suspected militants hurled a grenade at the house of senior Congress leader Surinder Chani Singh in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district Friday evening.
The grenade exploded in the lawn and no one was injured, a police official said, adding that Singh and his family were not in the house at the time of the incident.
Singh told Kashmir Reader over phone from Jammu that the militants hurled the grenade at his residence at Monghama village of Tral.
He said that the grenade was hurled from the front side of the house, but it exploded outside the house without causing any damage.
Singh said he was in Jammu along with his family as his mother had passed away a few days ago in Jammu.
Soon after the attack, government forces reached the spot and launched searches to nab the attackers.
It is pertinent to mention that panchayat elections are to be held in Tral block on November 29.
