‘His teachings continue to inspire generations’
JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Governor, Satya Pal Malik on Thursday extended greetings to the people of the state on the eve of Guru Nanak Dev’s birthday.
In a message, the governor described Guru Nanak Devji as “an apostle of peace and tolerance whose teachings would continue to inspire generations, leading them to the path of righteousness and brotherhood”. He said that Guruji strove all his life for promoting social justice and equality and to bring about peace and harmony among the communities.
Governor hoped that the celebration of this auspicious event would contribute towards strengthening brotherhood and communal harmony and would be a harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity in the state.

Chief Secretary, B V R Subrahmanyam on Thursday greeted the people of the state on Gurupurab, 549th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
In his message, the chief secretary described Guru Nanak Dev as an apostle of peace and tolerance and said his teachings would continue to inspire generations, leading them to the path of righteousness and brotherhood.
He expressed hope that the occasion would further strengthen brotherhood, communal harmony, amity and secular traditions and would be a harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity for Jammu and Kashmir and its people.

National Conference President, Farooq Abdullah on Thursday greeted the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the eve of Gurupurab.
Greeting people, especially Sikh community, Farooq, in a statement, said, “Guru Nanak Ji spread the message of truth and equality”. He said Guru Nanakji upheld the torch of amity and stressed on the purification of soul. “I express my heartfelt greeting to the people on the observance day,” he said.
Farooq said that the current times are tumultuous and that we should draw inspiration from such great souls. “Guru Nanakji didn’t discern between the rich (and) the poor, high or low. His message is universal and inclusive,” he added.
DGP prays for well-being of people
Director General of Police, J&K, Dilbag Singh on Thursday greeted the people of the state and all ranks of JKP, besides their families on the eve of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birthday. In his message, expressing hope, the DGP said, “This auspicious occasion will usher the state towards peace, progress and prosperity, strengthen the bonds of communal harmony and brotherhood which have been the hallmark of the glorious heritage of Jammu and Kashmir”. The DGP prayed for well-being of the people of the state.
