SRINAGAR: The leaders and activists of Syed Ali Geelani-led Hurriyat Conference on Wednesday staged protest at Abi Guzar in city centre Lal Chowk here against the “brutal killing” of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat senior leader Mir Hafizullah by unidentified gunmen.
Carrying placards ‘stop killing of innocent Kashmiris’ and ‘stop human rights violation’, the protesters said, “Such barbaric and inhuman acts prove beyond doubt the brutal and inhuman mindset of the oppressor.”
According to a statement issued here, the leaders said that wiping away pro-freedom personalities and creating a fear psychosis in their families can in no way be tolerated and any conscious and civilised person with human heart cannot remain silent.
“These extra judicial killings are carried out under a well-knit and well-organised plan to send shockwaves (across) the pro-freedom camp and these killers and their masters pretend to be innocent,” they said.
“Indian agencies very cunningly and arrogantly put the blame on ‘unidentified’ as this misnomer has been creating havoc for the last 30 years throughout the state of Jammu and Kashmir,” they said.
“Under the patronage of agencies and forces, these guns have long back been recognised by Kashmiris, and people cannot be deceived by government narratives,” the protesters said.
The leaders added, “Indian military might and its lusty henchmen have miserably failed to contain the pro-freedom sentiment and people’s commitment, that is why they have stooped so low to act upon the kill list prepared two years ago, so that sincere and dedicated leaders, workers and sympathisers are gunned (down) in cold-blood in broad-day-light, and deceitfully escaping the blame.”
“Such cowardly and inhuman acts can in no way suppress us and every drop of blood spilled by our martyrs gives the freedom struggle courage and inspiration to be more aggressive and committed,” they said.
