Prez MC B’la takes stock of sanitation, anti-encroachment drives

BARAMULLA: President Municipal Council (MC) Baramulla, Umar Azhar Kakroo on Monday took stock of sanitation and anti encroachment drives here in Baramulla town.
Baramulla municipal council president, Umar Kakroo, vice president, Abid Salaam along with a team of the council, police and officials of revenue department visited many areas of the town including fish market, old hospital road, Main Chowk, Tehsil Chowk, Tashkand Chowk and bus stand. He directed officials to “clear the trouble spots and foot paths from encroachments” for pedestrian convenience and smooth regulation of traffic in the town.
Talking media men at general bus stand, the newly elected president said for making Baramulla green and clean, “we will work hard”, adding that it’s the responsibility of all to work for the betterment of town.
He also assured a ‘permanent’ solution for rehabilitation of street vendors in Baramulla town.
He appealed shopkeepers to “do away with illegal occupancy” of roadsides and footpaths which block the walkways and impede smooth traffic flow.
In Main Chowk Baramulla, Umer directed officials to register shopkeepers without proper rate list and license and to provide them a proper rate list. He directed the shopkeepers to have the rate list hanging at their shops.
He said that they (the council) identified a place for transporters and other people to park their vehicles and advised them to not park vehicles in front of shops which is the “main cause” of traffic jam in the town.
He asserted that he would not allow anyone to create problem in the city.
