SRINAGAR: Jammu Kashmir National Front has strongly condemned the shifting of many Kashmiri political prisoners from Jammu jails to Haryana.
A National Front spokesman in a statement said that instead of releasing or shifting them to nearer jails, the Kashmiri political prisoners are being shifted to far off jails.
“A number of political prisoners like National Front chairman, Nayeem Khan are already languishing in jails like Tihar after fabricated cases were registered against them. Now New Delhi has started shifting the Kashmiri prisoners from state jails to different Indian jails which is undoubtedly a cause of concern for hundreds of the relatives of the prisoners,” he said.
He said the Court had long back directed to lodge the prisoners in nearer jails so that their kith and kin can meet them without any trouble. “But it seems that New Delhi and the local administration has decided not to entertain any court directions and go with their will. The shifting of many political prisoners to Haryana has created worries among the families of the prisoners already concerned about the falling health of their dear ones who are behind bars since long,” the spokesman said.
He urged upon the human rights bodies especially those working for the prisoners to take cognizance of the issue.
