SRINAGAR: A video emerged on social media on Friday showing militants firing a barrage of gunfire on Nadeem Manzoor of Shopian’s Safnagri, whom they charged with tipping off government forces about two militants who were killed in Safnagri village on November 6.
The two militants, Idrees Ahmad (Chota Abrar) of Safnagri and Amir Amin (Abu Shoban) of Awneera, were killed in a gunfight with government forces near Nadeem’s house.
Hizbul Mujahideen operations chief Riyaz Naikoo in the video acknowledged that they killed Nadeem. He said that investigations by their “do or die squad” found him to be involved in informing the forces about the two militants.
“He accepted that money made him commit the act. Later, he was not given any money by forces,” Naikoo said and added, “We don’t want to kill anyone, but they (informers) are forcing us.”
“You saw the consequences of being an informer. We appeal to parents to counsel their wards to stay away from forces,” Naikoo can be heard saying in the video, which went viral on WhatsApp.
According to the most-wanted militant, “Whether informer is small or big, punishment will be given to him.”
The video showed Nadeem being asked by militants, whose faces are not seen, to move his face towards another direction while they tell him, “We won’t open fire on you.”
After that, the militants can be heard shouting, “What Abrar and Shoban did to you?”, and opened fire on him.
