Villagers say that two Hizb militants were killed in encounter near the slain boy’s home
SHOPIAN: A student who recently wrote his Class 12 exams was abducted by unknown gunmen on Thursday evening (5:30pm) and was found dead, shot with bullets, on Friday in a Pulwama village.
A police officer told Kashmir Reader that the body of the killed student was found in Niklora village in neighbouring Pulwama district.
The killed student was identified as Nadeem Manzoor, son of Manzoor Ahmad Dar, resident of Safnagri village of Shopian. Villagers from Safnagri speculated that the killing could be related to the killing of two Hizb militants who were gunned down by government forces near the house of the slain student on the night of November 6 this month.
A relative of the slain student told Kashmir Reader that gunmen on Thursday twice raided the house of Manzoor during the day but they found no one there. “They even searched the house and came a third time in the evening, when they abducted Nadeem. On Friday morning we came to know that he had been killed,” the relative said.
Nadeem, according to relatives, has left behind two brothers, a sister, and his parents. They said that his body was handed over to the family by police on Friday morning for burial.
Villagers said that Manzoor, the father of the killed boy, is a bread maker who has his own shop in the village. They said that Nadeem was 18 years old.
Confirming the incident, SSP Pulwama Chandan Kohli told Kashmir Reader that the bullet-ridden body of Nadeem was taken to a nearby hospital for conducting medico-legal formalities. He said that a case in this regard had been registered and investigation initiated.
