SRINAGAR: On the eve of World Diabetes Day, a diabetes screening cum awareness camp was organized by the Department of Community Medicine, SKIMS Soura in their field Practice area at Community Health Center, Sumbal, Bandipora.
According to a statement issued here, people were screened primarily for diabetes. Risk factors for other non-communicable diseases were also assessed. Awareness programme was also conducted for the general masses.
“The services that were provided included anthropometry, BP measurement and blood sugar estimation besides ophthalmology, dental, physician consultation and consultation by a dialectologist.
The experts from the Department of Community Medicine screened the patients at the camp. “A screening programme for ASHAS was also held at the camp. Out of 110 patients screened, 12 were detected diabetic,” it said.
Director SKIMS has appreciated the department for organizing the event.
