SRINAGAR: Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) on Thursday said that the fresh chargesheet filed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is nothing but a ‘ploy to extend the imprisonment of the party chairperson, Aasiyeh Andrabi, her aides Nahida Nasreen and Sofi Fehmeeda.
NIA on Wednesday filed a charge sheet against Dukhtaran-e-Millat chief Aasiya Andrabi and her two associates Sofi Fehmeeda and Naheeda Nasreen at Patiala House court in New Delhi.
A DeM spokesperson, Rifat Fatim, in a statement issued here said NIA had ‘nothing’ to file against the DeM leaders. “That is the reason flimsy grounds have been put forth to extend the jail term of our leaders,” she said.
The spokesperson said that there was nothing new in what has been filed in the charge sheet. “It is the stand of every Kashmiri that India has occupied Kashmir and that a struggle is going on for right to self determination,” she added.
She said that like every Kashmiri, the DeM leadership and its cadres are up against the subjugation. “Nothing on ground will change, our leaders, like every Kashmiri, are against oppression and this stand is never going to change. This chargesheet applies to every Kashmiri. In our leaders’ case, it has been used to extend their illegal imprisonment,” the spokesperson added.
