Srinagar: The Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) chairman Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai Tuesday condemned the “fresh wave of arrest spree” and slapping of Public Safety Act (PSA) on pro-freedom leaders and activists saying “the governmenthas always responded to freedom struggle through mass detentions”.
“Hundreds of Kashmiri youth and activists and leaders have been arrested,” Sehrai said in a statement. “It is a clear that Jammu Kashmir is a police state.”
Sehrai said that today hundreds of innocent youth including under-aged are being put behind bars under PSA.
“The authorities are trampling humanity under their boots by slapping Public Safety Act on leaders and activists,” he said, adding “police have declared a war on Kashmir youth and such policy of crushing the separatist leadership through the might of power cannot prevent the people from demanding their right to self-determinations.”
The TeH chairman denounced the arrest of Danish Mushtaq, Rayees Ahmed Mir, Parveez Ahmed Parray and his brother Umer Ahmed Parray of Hajin, Abid Rashid Bhat, Tauseef Akber Bhat, Abdul Ahad Teeli of Handwara, Shakeel Khan Hayaat and Sajad Ahmed Beigh of Budgam.
