Srinagar: The Muslim League (ML) Tuesday condemned “prolonged and unlawful” detention of its chairman Masarat Alam Bhat and shifting him to some unknown location from Kot Balwal Jail, Jammu.

“The court has quashed 35th PSA’s against him, but the government again detained him by slapping the 36th PSA that has ended on Novemver 12th,” the spokesman Sajad Ayoubi said in a statement.

“Aalam is languishing in jail for a long,” he said. “However, it is quite disheartening that he is being subjected to vengeance by state authorities.”

“The government has registered many cases against him merely on the basis of political vendetta. He got bail seven times but is being implicated in false cases which is worst kind of human rights violation,” he stated.

The Muslim League appealed HR organisations to come forward and take the cognizance of “illegal detention” of Masrat Aalam.
