Classwork to remain suspended till Friday

Srinagar: Students from central university of Kashmir staged protest demonstration at Nowgam campus demanding release of their classmate who was arrested by the police from his rented accommodation last week.
The protesting students assembled here in university premises and demanded release of Suhail Ahmad Dar from shopian, student of political science department.
The protesting students said Dar was one of the brilliant students in the university and the charges slapped against Suhail are totally baseless,” protesting students said.
The students said the varsity authorities should press police to release the arrested student. The classwork in the university remained suspended on second consecutive day on Tuesday. A day ago, the authorities had suspended classwork but today the students did not join the classes.
The PRO CUK, Arshid Mehraj said the university had not suspended any class work today. “But students did not resume their class work,” he said.
Meanwhile, in the view of going protests in the university, the university has decided to suspend class work at Nowgam-I, Nowgam-III campuses from Wednesday to Friday.
“The class work of all the teaching departments in Nowgam-I and Nowgam-III campuses of the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) shall remain suspended on 14th, 15th and 16th of November, 2018” the university statement said.
