SRINAGAR: Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) on Monday strongly condemned the “harassment and psychological intimidation” faced by its leader Mir Hafizullah.

A TeH spokesperson in a statement issued here said its district president Anantnag Mir Hafizullah has received threat calls from unknown numbers since past one month. He demanded immediate investigation into it.

“Authorities should verify and locate the origin of these calls and make it in public domain,” the spokesperson said and warned that if any untoward happen to Mir Hafizullah, the government would be responsible.

“Mir Hafizullah is a prominent leader of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat and his personality and all political activities are quite visible and open book. Since last one month, some unknown people (are) suspiciously roaming around his house and at times knocking the doors and windows and inquiring about him. This makes the whole family frightened and very concerned,” he said.

Many pro-freedom activists and leaders have been targeted by unknown people earlier as well and it seems that under a well thought-out plan, some forces are strengthening and backing these hidden hands to intimidate and harass not only pro-freedom leaders and activists but their family members as well, the spokesperson said.
