Srinagar: Two militants were killed along Line of Control in Kashmir on Tuesday while another militant was killed along LoC in Jammu, army said.
An army official said that two militants were intercepted by army soldiers when they were trying to enter the Valley through the porous LoC in Keran village. Soon after being noticed, they fired ensuing into a gunfight which was on while this report was being filed.
“Two militants were killed so far and the gun battle is on,” the official said.
Meanwhile, army on Tuesday claimed to have killed a heavily-armed militant along the Line of Control (LoC) in Akhnoor sector here, officials said. The infiltration bid came after a series of ceasefire violations by Pakistan which left three army soldiers and a porter dead and three BSF soldiers injured since Friday.
“An armed intruder was noticed trying to infiltrate into this side in Pallanwalla area of Akhnoor sector and was challenged by the alert army personnel,” an army officer said.
He said the intruder opened fire and a gunfight ensued in which he was killed. A huge quantity of arms and ammunition including an AK assault rifle and a pistol were recovered from him.
