PAMPORE: To commemorate the birth anniversary of India’s first Education minister Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the Education Zone Pampore celebrated the National Education Day on Sunday at Government Upper Primary School (UPS) Wahab Sahab in Pampore, officials said.
The program commenced with the lighting of lamps and floral tributes to Azad.
Zonal Education Officer Pampore G A Dar was the chief guest on the occasion.
Dar spoke about the contribution of Azad to Indian education system. His contribution to establishing the education foundation in India is recognised by celebrating his birthday as National Education Day across India, Dar said.
Students also threw light on the life and contribution of the great personality.
Mohammad Yousuf Kuchay and Bilal Ahmad Wani spoke about Azad’s contributions, and about the role of education and teacher in our society.
The students of school performed various cultural programmes.
At the conclusion, ZEO Dar informed people about the government policies and schemes for benefits of students.
He stressed on them to enrol their wards in the school and asked the school heads and teachers of the zone to celebrate the week as enrolment drive week.
