BUDGAM: A month after Kashmir Reader reported about the shortage of buses on different routes of Budgam Motor Vehicle Department and Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Company (SRTC) has sanctioned three buses to Budgam people.
The three buses will be plying on three different routes in Budgam, officials said.
The buses were formally flagged off by deputy commissioner Budgam, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar from Main Adda, Budgam.
Officials believe that the timely initiative of the JKSRTC and Motor Vehicle Department will address the long pending demand of the public especially the people living in remote areas of Beerwah, Khansahab and Chrar-e-sharief.
Talking to Kashmir Reader an official of Assistant Regional Transport Office Budgam, said that the inauguration of the bus service ended the 2-decade long absence of SRTC service in district Budgam.
He added that the development took place soon after Kashmir Reader reported about the shortage of transport facility and ordeal of passengers in entire Budgam district.
Through a story that was published under title “Budgam transport in dire straits” KR had informed government about the need to sanction few SRTC buses to different routes of Budgam so that miseries of common masses who are living in far off areas may get relief.
Officials said that soon after the story got published, a high level meeting was held in which Deputy commissioners Budgam and officials of JKSRTC were also present. “At the conclusion of meeting, it was decided that three buses would be sanctioned to three different routes of Budgam”.
The 3 buses shall be ply from Budgam to Char-i-Sharief via chadoora, Budgam to Beerwah and Budgam to Khansahab.
However, it is pertinent to mention that the Tehsil headquarter is the one and isolated Tehsil of Budgam which has no direct connectivity with the district headquarter.
The residents demand that a bus should be sanctioned for plying from Budgam to Khag via Beerwah or Magam so that the people may get a sigh of relief.
