Pulwama: Thousands of people on Saturday participated in the funeral prayers of the two Hizbul Mujahideen militants killed in a gun-battle with government forces here early morning.

Hundreds of people made a beeline to the houses of Hizb militants Liyaqat Ahmad and Wajid Ahmad at Bellow and Babhar villages this afternoon when their bodies were handed by police to the family for final rites, witnesses told Kashmir Reader.

They said the bodies of the slain militants were carried by mourners in a procession amidst vociferous pro-freedom sloganeering.

“Multiple rounds of funeral prayers were offered for the two militants as more and more people joined in,” eyewitnesses said.

The two Hizb militants were killed early this morning in Tikken village of this south Kashmir district leading to a spontaneous shutdown and violent protests.
