Srinagar: The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) on Friday held a peaceful protest here against the human right violations in the Valley.

The JRL is comprised of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik.

The demonstration led by pro-freedom leader Sheikh Abdul Rashid at Maisuma here after Friday prayers were joined by scores of activists and locals, the eyewitnesses told Kashmir Reader. The protestors could be heard chanting, “Stop human rights violations in Kashmir”.

“Today’s protest has been organised on the call of JRL over the unabated human rights violations by the government forces. The houses are being razed to the ground and our youth are being killed and we protest against this,” Rashid said.

The pro-freedom leadership, he said, will hold a massive protest on the International human rights day on December 10.

The Hurriyat (G) also organised protest march at Hyderpora here, the statement said. The protestors displayed the placards and banners “to highlight their demands to safeguard their political and civil rights”, it added.

A protest march was also taken out at Jamia Masjid after Friday prayers by Hurriyat (M) and Awami Action Committee (AAC). The protesters, according to the statement, demanded an end to the killing and arrest spree.

The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) also took protest march at Sarai-Bala and Budshah Chowk here. The leaders Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi, Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri and Ashraf Bin Salam along with scores of activists staged a peaceful protest and condemned the “rights abuses” in Kashmir, the statement added.
