Srinagar: The Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Friday condemned the murder of Jamiat Ulema Islam-Sami (JUI-S) chief Maulana Samiul-Haq in Pakistan.

“Maulana was a tall politico-religious scholar who had a sound contribution in the educational and political spheres of Pakistan and his death in such a manner is very painful and sad,” Geelani said in a statement.

The resistance leaders said that the difference of opinion is a good sign of any healthy society and it should always be constructive and purposeful.

While reiterating his stand, Geelani said that any society especially Muslims can in no way afford to be consumed by those inhuman acts.

Condoling the death of a veteran politician of AJK Khalid Ibrahim, Geelani said that late Khalid Ibrahim was a brave and honest politician who always stood by his principles and never compromised on them.

Terming him a sincere voice of Kashmiris, he said that deceased always favoured accession of Kashmir to Pakistan and was bold enough to put forward his point of view despite domestic and national criticism.

Condoling and consoling the bereaved families of Moulana Sami-Ul-Haq and Khalid Ibrahim, Geelani prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and courage to them to bear this irreparable loss.
