Srinagar: The arrest of two post-graduate students set off strong protest at the central university of Kashmir (CUK) Nowgam campus today.
Scores of students of CUK Nowgam assembled in the campus this morning and staged a protest against the arrest of two political science students Suhail Ahmad and Mohammad Ismail by government forces in a night raid on Friday, witnesses told Kashmir Reader.
The two third semester students were picked up by government forces from their rented accommodation in Nowgam locality of the city outskirts, they said.
Both the students hail from Shopian district of south Kashmir.
“Two of our students have been arrested from their rooms in Nowgam. We don’t reason behind the arrests. We have taken up the matter with senior district administration and police officials,” PRO, CUK, Arshad Meraj told Kashmir Reader.
