Srinagar: Government forces on Friday resorted to intense aerial firing after youths pelted the buses they were traveling in with stones in main Tral town.

Eyewitnesses told Kashmir Reader that groups of youth hurled rocks and bricks on a convoy of government forces in Tral bus stand. “The forces resorted to intense firing to scare the stone pelting protesters away.”

Meanwhile, the witnesses said that a spontaneous shutdown is being observed in Tral town following an encounter in a village — 18 kms away, Dar-Ganiegund area.

The gunfight erupted after forces cordoned the area following an input about the presence of militants.
