Bandipora man who went missing after last week’s snowfall found dead, another still untraceable

Bandipore: A Bandipora resident who had gone missing on November 3 after heavy snowfall, has been found dead in the forests, while another is still missing.

The duo on November 3, after the heavy snowfall in the upper reaches of Bandipora, alongwith a group of people from Athwatoo village had gone to the Kutha Pathri forests to collect some medicinal plants.

“As they were on their way the snow started falling heavily and they turned back. Among the group, five were successful in reaching back home safely but two went missing along with their horses,” a police official said adding that a search operation was launched launched by the district police..

He said that the dead body of one of the missing persons has been traced. He has been identified as Ghulam Qadir Bhat, son of Ab Raheem Bhat and a resident of Wuhan Athwatoo.

The horses of both the missing persons were recovered alive from the forests.
