Residents of south Kashmir’s Tral stage anti-PDD demonstration

Pulwama: Scores of residents of Amirabad area of Tral here staged a protest on Thursday against the power development department (PDD) over the erratic power supply.

Residents of Amirabad hit the streets this morning and staged a demonstration against the PDD for its alleged failure to restore electricity since last week’s snowfall, eyewitnesses told Kashmir Reader. Chanting anti-PDD slogans, the protesters blocked Tral-Dadsara road.

The protesters said that children appearing in their annual examination are the worst sufferers as they are unable to prepare for the exams in the absence of power.

Meanwhile, an anti-PDD protest was also in main town Tral against the erratic power supply.

The protest led by Civil Citizen Council Chairman Farooq Ahmad Trali was also joined by residents and traders as well, eyewitnesses told Kashmir Reader. The protesters raised slogans against department and demanded an end to the erratic power supply in the area.

Local shopkeepers in Tral Bala downed their shutters and joined protest demonstration against PDD, witnesses said.

“Since October, we are without regular electricity and the prevailing weather conditions have added to our miseries,” Trali said.
