BARAMULLA: At least 50 people were attacked and injured by stray dogs in Baramulla town of northern Kashmir on Tuesday.
Locals said a pack of stray dogs entered into the Kantabagh and its neighbouring areas Tuesday morning and attacked a group of people in the locality, resulting in the injury of at least 50 people, including women, children and senior citizens. Locals later chased away the dogs and shifted the injured to District Hospital (DH) Baramulla for treatment.
Medical Superintendent (MS) DH Baramulla Dr Masood Ahmad confirmed that 50 people were shifted to the hospital where doctors were treating them. He said all the injured were later discharged after first aid and proper vaccination.
Some patients complained that there was insufficient vaccine stock at the hospital and that they were forced to purchase it from the open market at high rates. However, Dr Ahmad denied the allegations and said that the hospital authorities provided all the patients with anti-rabies vaccine from the hospital “after we purchased it from the market”
