Anantnag: At least four people were injured by pellets that government forces fired on stone-pelting youth in Qaimoh area of Kulgam district on Tuesday evening.
The injured were shifted to Anantnag district hospital, from where one of them was later shifted to a Srinagar hospital.
“All of them are stable, however,” a doctor at the district hospital told Kashmir Reader.
The clashes took place at about 6pm in Qaimoh where a local shrine was observing an annual Urs (commemoration day).
“Hundreds of people attended the Urs and it caused a massive traffic jam in the area, in which some forces’ vehicles were stuck,” local sources told Kashmir Reader.
They said some youths pelted the forces’ vehicles with stones and in retaliation the troops fired pellets, leaving at least four youths injured.
“The forces also resorted to aerial firing, creating panic in the area as people, most of them women and children, ran for cover,” local sources said.
The situation returned to normal in the area soon after, locals said.
