Ganderbal: After a brief exchange of gunfire with militants, government forces launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) at Bakoora area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Monday afternoon.
Officials said that the CASO was launched by army, Special Operations Group (SOG) of police, and paramilitary CRPF at Bakoora area after receiving information about presence of militants there. Official said that as the government forces reached a suspected spot, the militants hiding there opened fire, at which a brief gunfight ensued.
The exchange of fire continued for some time before the firing stopped. Officials said that the militants seemed to have escaped from the spot.
The search operation was still going on in the evening when last reports came in from the area.
